İzmir Governorship (PPR) opening and contact meeting of “Biomass Energy Systems and Technology Center (BESTMER)” project, supported by İzmir Development Agency and carried out by Ege University Solar Energy Institute, carried out with the participation of Mustafa Toprak, Governor of İzmir and the chairman of the executive board of İZKA.
Mustafa Toprak, the governor of İzmir, Candeğer Yılmaz, the rector of Ege University, Kadri Canan, district governor of Bornova, Prof. Dr. Günnur Koçar, head of Ege University Solar Energy Institute, academics and other authorities participated to the meeting.
BESTMER will be the only center of expertise on biomass energy in cooperation with local authorities, public institutions, chamber of industry/commerce/trade associations and related industrial establishments; thus it will be able to choose, design, implement and operate the most economic and efficient biomass energy conversion technology for any biomass resource (especially wastes) as well as providing training on its operation and tracking the application results in a centralized manner.
İZKA allocated 6.849.318,72 TL and Ege University allocated 7.500.000,00 TL to the Project. Overall cost of the project is 14.349.318,72 TL
Governor Toprak stated at the meeting “As you know, we have to contribute to innovation and novelty. We have to develop technologies that develop technologies. In this sense, medium and high tech products as well as excipients that we import take significant place among the materials that we import.
Therefore, I believe that we have to produce in our country these medium and high tech products that not only cause trouble of foreign exchange but also increase current deficit.
This project, in this sense, provides incentive to produce renewable energy in our country. With this regard, we attach importance to this project.
